The Santa Paula Theater Center will present a FILM/TELEVISION ACTING INTENSIVE taught by local award-winning actor/writer/director, Travis Greer, on Saturday, September 16th, and Saturday, September 23rd from 1:00 - 4:00 PM on

This will be a step-by-step on-camera class, focusing on auditioning, callbacks, and self-taping, while building confidence to make Hollywood a not-so-scary place. While providing the knowledge from being a working actor for two decades
in the business, Travis brings a fun atmosphere to his classes where your creative spirit can fly. Let's have some fun as we get to work!
For the last 25 years in the business, Travis Greer can be seen all over platforms of film, television, and national commercials. Shows such as Shrinking, This Is Us, Criminal Minds, Adam Ruins Everything, One Day At A Time, and playing Rusty Griswold alongside Chevy Chase and Beverly D' Angelo in Hotel Hell Vacation. Travis' ability to play the everyman on the hero's journey has been recognized by film festivals all over the world. From Pinewood Studios in London to being awarded best actor by his hometown at The Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Travis has deep roots in improvisational arts and has been on award-winning house teams at The Second City, Improv Olympic, and Impro Theatre in Los Angeles. Travis recently wrote, directed, and starred in two award-winning feature films, A Rock N' Roll Heart and Time Capsule which are now streaming everywhere across The U.S. and Canada.

FALL 2023 ACTING CONSERVATORY.
THE SANTA PAULA THEATER CENTER ACTING CONSERVATORY is announcing 4 acting classes on their BackStage to be taught by industry professionals who are also familiar faces on the SPTC Stage. Instructor bios are available on request. Acting with Intent is an adult acting class taught by Taylor Kasch running Monday afternoons from 2-5 PM or Monday evenings from 7-10 PM on October 23 - Dec 4th, with a showcase to follow Dec 10. (There is no class November 6.) The Young Actors’ Studio is an acting class for teens ages 12 - 19, taught by Jessi May Stevenson, running Saturday afternoons 2 - 4 PM from September 30 - November 4, with a showcase to follow on Nov 5. Backstage Broadway is an improv class for kids ages 7-11, taught by Sindy McKay, running Wednesday afternoons 3:30 - 5:00 PM from October 4 - November 8,
with a showcase to follow after the last class. The Sketch Writer’s Workshop is taught by John Webber, running Saturday mornings 10 AM - 12 PM from October 7 - November 11, with a showcase to follow November 16. The wearing of masks while inside the Santa Paula Theater Center is optional, though highly encourage for the safety of our patrons, actors, and staff.
Acting with Intent is an adult acting class for actors of all experience levels ages. Taylor Kasch, an award winning actor and director, creates an environment that is perfect for the experienced thespian to hone their skills or the beginning actor to learn the basics of acting in a supportive atmosphere. The series includes 6 classes, 1 private coaching session, and will culminate with a showcase performance. Cost for the 7 sessions and showcase is $200.00. The Young Actors’ Studio taught by SPTC’s Artistic Director, Jessi May Stevenson, will provide
a safe, nurturing, creative space for young actors to explore their craft with authenticity and confidence. Using various monologues and scenes, the students will discover how to use their experiences and imagination to create a fully developed character. They will learn how to make specific, bold, and inventive choices in an atmosphere of creative play and self-discovery. This class will teach young artists about warming up their instrument, character development, script
analysis, emotional recall, pursuing actions/objectives, creating truth in the moment, authentic listening skills and audition techniques. Scholarships are available. Cost for the 6 week series and showcase is $120.00.
At Backstage Broadway, taught by instructor Sindy McKay, children will play improvisational games, experiment with movement and voice, and interact with fellow actors as they learn the building blocks of theater. They will study the who, what, why, and where of acting. These concepts will be imparted through kid-tested and academically-proved games and activities.
These lively interactions support the ideas of teamwork, self esteem, and confidence building. Everyone works to make everything work. You will get weekly writing assignments and will go over them as you would in a writer's room. The mood in the class is
non-competitive and the only criticism you receive will be constructive. You have a comic voice, and this class is going to bring it out, fine-tune it and put it to work in the classes and in your material. Everyone will work hard and have a lot of fun. The goal to build confidence that will keep you writing down your funny ideas forever. The class will have a staged reading of selected scenes following it’s completion.
