Kevin Parks has always been making images, whether with pencil, paint, computer, or camera. Although he attended university, he is mostly self taught, and made his living making images since he was 19 mostly as a graphic designer, but later as an art/creative director. He’s worked for small and large firm in-house art departments, design agencies and as a freelancer in the capacity of designer, illustrator, filmmaker, and photographer.
From the mid 90’s on, he art directed hundreds of photo shoots, and in 2004 he became a professional photographer himself shooting products and models for commercial package designs. People and portraits are by far his favorite subject. Having a background in design, Kevin brings his understanding of composition, design principals, and storytelling to the camera whenever he is behind the lens and strives to make the best image possible that fits the objective. Kevin was introduced to the SPTC in the best way possible. After (surreptitiously) taking photos of a friend’s performance at the theater and sharing them with that friend the images caught the eye of an amazing SPTC actor/playwright who invited him to photograph the cast of his upcoming play. Since then Kevin has photographed and video recorded several productions and said: “I found the SPTC community to be one of the best collaborative relationships I have had the pleasure to be a part of”. |
