Appropriate

The Santa Paula Theater Center is excited to announce auditions for their opening show of Season 2026, Appropriate by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, directed by Artistic Director Jessi May Stevenson. Appropriate will play from February 6 - March 8, 2026 with performances on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM and Sunday Matinees at 2:30 PM.

This Tony and Obie Award winning dark comedy throws you into the middle of a crumbling Arkansas plantation home, where the Lafayette siblings gather to divide their father’s estate. But what starts as a family negotiation spirals into a volatile contest of loyalty, betrayal, and power. With biting wit and unflinching honesty, Appropriate forces audiences to confront how the legacies of racism, privilege, and denial continue to echo across generations.
